The Instructional Innovation Network (IIN) is a database of both human and electronic resources devoted to improving pedagogy in higher education. Specifically, this website provides an opportunity to share ideas and materials about cooperative learning and case teaching in a convenient and cost-effective way.

While online resources for improving and supporting teaching in higher education are growing in number, few sites provide faculty with concrete methods, strategies, or materials known to improve student learning. The IIN publishes instructional materials that are normally found only in the file cabinets of faculty members. In the case-teaching database, the IIN provides cases, teaching notes, syllabi, and materials on methods and techniques, as well as generic articles on topics, issues, and methodologies in case teaching. In the cooperative learning database, the IIN provides syllabi, lesson plans, teambuilding activities, homework assignments, classroom management tips, and grading rubrics, as well as more general articles about cooperative learning.

Educators may subscribe to the Instructional Innovation Network at no cost to share teaching ideas and materials and to discuss their teaching with colleagues from their own and related disciplines. This interactive database was developed using new general object economy technology components and is both searchable and browser accessible. Members of the network may submit and retrieve all teaching materials online.

The quality of materials and research posted to the database will be ensured through review by distinguished advisors from the faculty and staff of Arizona State University; Pace University (NY); the U.S. Air Force Academy (CO); the University of Maryland; the University of Minnesota; and Chandler-Gilbert Community College (Arizona). Faculty from these schools will also participate in on-line discussions through two listservs.
